something you didn’t know about #6 screws

Came across this fun fact today… 6-32 screws have the worst ratio of torque that can be applied to torque necessary to shear the screw.

In other words, they are the screws most likely to shear off.

    …another good article. Yes, my boss taught me long ago, to use either a #4 or #8. There are very few instances when a #6 will be needed. Typically, the few instances I’ve had where I’ve use a #6 is when a #8 is just slightly too big and you gain just enough wall thickness or screw clearance etc, by dropping down to a #6. It might also be easier in this case to use a #4 and just call our a higher strength material….
